Founded in 2008, Symbiosis School of Economics (SSE) is a dynamic institution, with a demonstrable record of success, offering both undergraduate and postgraduate programmes in Economics. The curriculum is designed and upgraded periodically to enhance the employability of our graduates in sectors such as public and private enterprises, banking and financial services, government, consulting, academia and NGOs. This niche Institute seeks to develop intellectual discipline, critical and analytical assessment, resulting in rational thinking. It also nurtures an understanding of the need for constrained optimization and a strong urge to strive towards achieving equilibrium. The SSE tries to achieve these goals in an educational environment committed to excellence and academic freedom. The environment here is disciplined and demanding, at the same time giving plenty of scope for creativity, originality and student initiatives. Unique aspects of the institute are the centers it runs for students. The Centre for Academic Writing offers numerous facilities to students for academic writing whereas the Centre for Quantitative Learning and Applications supports researchers at advanced level.
All classrooms are ICT enabled and equipped with LCD projectors and Wi-Fi connection.
The library at SSE is continuously being upgraded with books, journals, magazines, periodicals and newspapers. Faculty and students also have access to the central library, SIU.
The 100 seater computer lab is Wi-Fi enabled with wide-ranging Statistics and Econometrics related software packages.
The canteen has a wide variety of snacks and meals to choose from and is easily accessible.
Limited accommodation is available at the boys and girls hostel on the campus. However, the administration office at SSE assists students with information regarding the accommodation available in the hostel and the vicinty.
Symbiosis Centre for Health Care (SCHC) is an in-house Health Care Centre exclusive to the staff and students. The SCHC has a team of specialist doctors who conduct the (compulsory) annual check-up. Outpatient treatment is provided to the students by the medical officer of SCHC stationed in our campus. Each student is insured under Mediclaim and the Traffic Accident policy.
Students at SSE come from across the country and the world, thereby allowing for a remarkable exposure to different cultures, regions, traditions and languages. We have 20 student driven clubs brimming with activities. Joining a sports club or a debating society can be a great way to meet new people and is also a fantastic way to become part of the student community at SSE. The Students' Council along with the faculty organizes a number of events throughout the term for the purpose of overall development of students which includes the official college fest ‘Equilibria’ as well as other activities.
SIU announces the four-year degree programme with multiple entry and exit options as envisioned in the NEP 2020. The highlights of the new programme offerings are as under
In the first year, students will be offered fundamental core courses which then translate into specialisations from the second year.
