Founded in 2008, Symbiosis School of Economics (SSE) is a dynamic institution, with a demonstrable record of success, offering both undergraduate and postgraduate programmes in Economics. The curriculum is designed and upgraded periodically to enhance the employability of our graduates in sectors such as public and private enterprises, banking and financial services, government, consulting, academia and NGOs. This very niche Institute seeks to develop intellectual discipline, critical and analytical assessment, which will result in rational thinking, along with an understanding of the need for constrained optimization, and a strong urge to strive towards achieving equilibrium. The SSE tries to achieve these goals in an educational environment committed to excellence and academic freedom. The environment here is disciplined and demanding, at the same time giving plenty of scope for creativity, originality and student initiatives. Unique aspects of the institute are the centers it runs for students. The Centre for Academic Writing offers numerous facilities to students for academic writing whereas the Centre for Quantitative Learning and Applications supports researchers at advanced level.

The 50 seater computer lab is Wi-Fi enabled with wide-ranging Statistics and Econometrics related software packages.
The canteen has a wide variety of snacks and meals to choose from and is easily accessible.
Limited accommodation is available at the boys and girls hostel on the campus. However, the administration office at SSE assists students with information regarding the accommodation available in the hostel and the vicinty.
Symbiosis Centre for Health Care (SCHC) is an in-house Health Care Centre exclusive to the staff and students. The SCHC has a team of specialist doctors who conduct the (compulsory) annual check-up. Outpatient treatment is provided to the students by the medical officer of SCHC stationed in our campus. Each student is insured under Mediclaim and the Traffic Accident policy.
Students at SSE come from all over the country and abroad, thereby allowing for a remarkable exposure to different cultures, regions, traditions and languages. We have 20 exciting clubs brimming with activities. Joining a sports club or a debating society can be a great way to meet new people and is also a fantastic way to become part of the student community at SSE. The Students' Council along with the faculty organizes a number of events throughout the term for the purpose of overall development of students which includes the official college fest “Laissez Faire” as well as other activities.
B.Sc. (Economics) Honours is a full time, three year graduation programme, which not only offers a wide array of economics, mathematics and statistics modules but also provides the students with an opportunity to study courses related to Accounts and Finance, Environmental Economics, International Relations, Public Policy and Administration, Research Methodology, Business Law, etc. to ensure a more holistic and interdisciplinary approach. This helps students develop critical thinking, logical analysis and deep understanding of crucial economic issues. We aim at creating a class of graduates in Economics who would be equipped not only with the strong foundation of economic theory but also with skills required to tackle and analyse the real world economic and business issues.
This year again, many of the companies which visited for campus recruitment have been hiring from SSE for the past few years. New recruiters are CPC Analytics, Zocdoc and Merit Group UK. The average package offered to BSc and MSc graduates has increased this year.
At SSE we have adopted a multi-pedagogical approach .It incorporates lectures, case studies, library assignments, project work, industrial visits, research projects, presentations, conferences and talks given by guest lecturers, and other innovative instruction methodologies. In short, we concentrate on problem based and experiential learning through live projects and fieldwork which are supported by e-learning tools, software and hands-on research.
The SSE students have a pan-India presence with international students coming from more than 10 nations across the globe.
Students graduating from SSE can look forward to careers in civil services, government funded and private think tanks and institutions, academic institutions, public and private organizations involved with developmental activities, analytics, market research, business intelligence and credit rating as well as financial and economic research.
